College History

‘Rome was not built in a day’! Ever since the commencement of the classes at Prabhat-Co-operative Society Campus, Valia in the year 1994, with 111 girls student, the college had a steep climbing, as it was a Herculean tasks to attract the principal stakeholders – the female students-particularly – tribal girls-to avail of opportunity of higher education for women that had come to their door. The classes started functioning, the devotion, dedication, perseverance and single minded Arjunian goal of the visionaries like Respected Late Shri Harisinhji Mahida and Respected Shri Muljibhai Sayaniya and (Retd. Prin.) Kesrisinhji Sayaniya of Shri Navchetan Education Society, put the College on the path of growth that was destined to lead the College to an unprecedented height.

As it is rightly said, “Divine Grace does come to one who works for others, without any wasted interest”. From generous society around the district and other places, Trust has collected the donation for the establishment of the College building. The maximum contribution for the development of our college had come from SHRI GANESH KHAND UDYOG, VATARIA, DIST:-BHARUCH. With the help of the huge amount, Trust had built its own building at the cost of Rs. 2.10 crores on the main state highway towards Maharashtra State. After that, Our College shifted to its own building from Prabhat Co-operative Society Campus in year 2001.

Subsequently, in 2003, College got the permanent affiliation from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat and then from Government of Gujarat in Sept, 2003. Whereas, our college came in the list of UGC, under section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act, 1956 in Sept 2006. Got Self - finance English as Principal Subject in June-2005, Post-Graduate Center of Sanskrit June-2008, Post-Graduate Centre of Hindi in 2009, Post-Graduate Centre of Economics in 2013 and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (Centre for Distant Education) affiliation in 2021.

At present the college has become a jewel in the crown of higher education for women in the tribal belt of Eastern Gujarat region.

Within a short span, college has left behind ‘footprints’ on the sands of time that will continue to inspire academicians and social reformers for years to come. Both in terms of the strength of students and quality education, the college reigns supreme in the galaxy of higher education, that too exclusively for women in general and particularly Scheduled Tribe.

As Shree Rang Navchetan Mahila Arts College becomes the success milestone, and to provide empowering employability and career service to young aspirants, Navchetan Trust started new branch of B. Com in 2019.

The journey is still going on with the immense support of present Managing Trustee and Secretary (Retd. Prin.) Shri Kesrisinhji Sayaniya, Shri Rajubhai Sayaniya, Precedent Shri Kanksinhji Mangrola, (Retd. Prin.) Shri Natvarsinhji Mahida, (Retd. Prin.) Shri Ashwinbhai Vihariya and Dr. Vanrajbhai Mahida, In Charge Prin. Dr. Sharmilaben Patel and the whole Shree Rang Navchetan Parivar..

As college is located in tribal block, students from different catchment area of tribal & rural block, remote villages, industrial aera, from different culture & tradition are getting knowledge with oneness and unity. In spite of our limitations, we have been striving to contribute towards Nation Building through empowering women in whatever measure we can.

Our aim is to strive for the realization of the ideal of making India a developed country by ensuing years, as envisaged by our former President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. We are determined to contribute, in, whatever measure we can, to the ‘YAGNA’ of making India a role model for the whole of the world.

The college is a kind of boon for those families who are from interior villages, whose first generation is getting chance to enhance themselves with the world. Shree Rang Navchetan Mahila College, Valia turns out a kind of bridge for surrounded tribal & rural block to connect with the global world.

The college is having 1500 student strength, in which more than 95% of students are tribal girls. We believe in women empowerment, as a result there of girl students are shaping their career in Shree Rang Navchetan Mahila Arts college.

The Whole teaching and administrative staff is quite supportive, and always work for student's welfare with the immense support of in charge principal. Shree Rang Navchetan Mahila Arts College is a place where highly knowledgeable faculties are always on tip toe to inspire students. 98% of the faculties are having Ph. D Degree and many of them are having guideship of Ph.D.

Our institute is having facilities like Home-Science lab & Multimedia Room, that is actually Virtual classes, Girls Common room, Highly Enriched library, two smart classes with projectors, Seminar hall, Computer Lab, Sports Room, Udisha Club and moreover that counselling and Guidance Centre of Dr, Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University to make learning process more inspiring and interesting for students. The institute is having SC/ST cell, anti-ragging cell, grievance redressal cell and women's cell. We are having Hostel Facility with all essential amenities especially for tribal girls. At present 500 tribal girls are taking the benefit of hostel.

The library is enriched with more than 23154 books, 104 journals & magazines. Students can issue even their syllabus books from library and throughout the term they have free of cost study without any burden.

A fully Eco-friendly and fully Wi-Fi campus - SRNM is honourably selected for NaMo Wi-Fi facility among the other colleges of Gujarat State.

Scholarship is one of the major venture, we are proffering to our reserved category students in accordance with Government that motivate them for higher aspirations. Many of the faculties are motivating poor students by paying their fees.

The College offers a very safe and secured environment with Close Circuit Cameras installed in all classrooms and at all important places and round the clock security.

Besides, curricular excellence the college can also boast of having commendable extension activities. The activities undertaken, under the banner of NSS and Sports deserve a special mention. The students are constantly made aware of the fact that they are very much a part and parcel of the fabric of society. An institute of higher education in particular, aims at the all-round development of the student personality. It is a matter of pride and glory for us to state that cultural activities under taken in the college have always been a center of attraction for all and sundry. The students of the college participate in various cultural programmed organized by the University and other educational institutes.

In spite of being a women’s college, that to in tribal area, our institute competes with the other co-education colleges in every respect. Our College results have always been higher than the average results of the University, as such, and securing University Gold Medal in different subjects consistently.

In short, to educate downtrodden and suppressed community is one of the pious efforts of Navchetan Trust. Imparting higher education to tribal girls (who really needs an exposure) is the mission and motto of the college.
